Many years ago there was rumored to be a witch that lived on the far side of a mountain with her pet dragon. Every couple of years there were supposed sightings of them flying together in the shadows of the moon. One year, the sightings became more and more frequent and closer to town. They were being seen almost daily and the villagers started becoming very concerned. In a panic, they called a town meeting and decided to go on the hunt for the witch and her dragon. If the villagers could find them first, maybe they could protect the village from whatever evil plans the witch and her dragon may have. Unaware of the village's plans the witch had a lazy evening planned. She had been flying every night looking for supplies for her potions and she needed a break. As she lovingly stewed dinner in the kitchen for her and her protective pet she heard what sounded like people. A lot of them and they sounded angry. ‘Oh no!’ she thought. "Have they found us?”
Suddenly the mountainside was rumbling with the sounds of the angry villagers. The dragon and the witch locked eyes and silently confirmed to one another that they'd been discovered. But, they had a plan; The witch grabbed her go-bag complete with a handmade chainmaille chain. This was her way down from the top of the mountain. The dragon went to his planned spot at the base of the mountain. He waited for his witch, watching for the people to approach. Just as the light from the villager's torches came over the hill the witch's feet hit the ground and she sprinted to the safety of her awaiting dragon. She jumped on his back just as she felt the grip of the villagers’ hands trying to pull her off the dragon. One of the villagers threw a slipknot around the dragon. She was too slow–they were going to be captured! Then she remembered that she had stashed some emergency herbs and blooms in the go-bag.
She quickly reformulated their escape plan. The witch whipped up her best potion with haste and poof– a cloud of pink and green smoke filled the air around them. A pendant with a chain fell to the ground. The witch and the dragon were gone! Astonished, the villagers all gathered around the necklace and as they looked closer they saw the twinkle of a green and red eye– it was the dragon’s eye! The quartz and blooms surrounding the eye were the exact colors they had seen in the smoke. It had to be them!
One curious bloke from town snatched up the necklace and exclaimed "We got them! The witch and dragon are gone!" As the other villagers began to cheer, the ground vigorously started to shake. Out of the necklace popped the witch and her dragon. Then, one by one, the souls of each and every townsperson was sucked into the amulet. It seems that, in her haste, the witch had cast the wrong spell. She now feared the spell she had cast had no reversal. The townspeople are fated to remain trapped inside the pendant until her spell runs its course or the necklace is worn by someone with a pure heart.
From that day forward the witch and her dragon have trudged through the thick forest in search of someone with a heart pure enough to lift the spell and set the villagers free. Could you be the one to help them?
